Jubaea x Syagrus

Mine is just a small seedling and it was posted recently so no point in posting another photo. Charles in Portugal has the largest one I believe. There are some in California that are pretty big too!

I wonder if it will grow faster or slower in Florida? I have one and I think there is one in Pensacola or somewhere around there (Panhandle).

it will be huge.

From the photos I've seen, it looks like Gary's J X S is the largest one in North America. I have one that was planted a couple of months ago, but mine is only about half the size of Gary's and mine is very slow growing. I think Charles in Portugal has the largest one in Europe. I'm hoping mine will speed up once it gets some roots into the ground.

In one of the threads someone asked if there was a Jubaea X Parajubaea cross. Patrick has tried that cross several times using P. cocoides pollen with no success. Who knows, maybe P sunkha pollen will be more successful?

Largest one in the world more like.......... which considering it spent its first 3 years in cold england and was dug up and sent by post to charles is even more remarkable.

Two photos of my JUBUTYAGRUS, two years in the ground from a two year seedling. Very slow growing in my climate, but this one is mostly in shade 80% of the day (for protection).

I don't recommend that to anyone... :o It will get more sun as it grow bigger.

Rob, I think Mardy's "Blue Jubea" is a hybrid with Butia.

Here is a pic of my first hybrid acquisition (BxJ)... it supposedly was a "Merrill offspring" bought 10 yrs ago and kept in a pot for a number of yrs. Finally planted it in my previous garden, where it grew happily for 5 yrs. This past May I moved it to my new home/garden (quite the job!) so it could be my beloved center piece of the back yard.
