This is one of the two at Ann Norton pictured recently and after last year's horrible Winter. I do not know why they put this "espionage protection device" around this one and leave the other rejected:

How did others do this past Winter. Do these ever actually bear fruit and how many years does it take?

Apparently there's a 70 year old one somewhere in South Florida with no trunk yet, so I don't know if they ever will bear fruit in Fl. In truly tropical climates, I have heard that they can bear in 20 years
