A Seed Out of the Past

Recommended Posts

Occasionally, I come across palm seedlings, among my potted palms, that are germinations from abandoned seeds that have been given a year or two but did not germinate. Well, here is an empty seed casing that I found next to a seedling. I cannot remember what palm species name goes with this seed. I would appreciate some help in identifying this guy. Thanks in advance! :)

The seedling has a rather short medium wide strap leaf with raspy edges.

Looks like the photos got lost in cyberspace, so I'll post them again here. I think I got a little rusty at this since I notice there are two of these posts.

Now that some thirty odd number of you have seen this post without the photos, I'm hoping there's still some of you out there who will know what this is.

Hi William

The seed looks like a Latania sp seed, perhaps L lodigessi or L lontaroids.

Thank you both,

It has been such a long time since I had any Latania seeds, I didn't recognize it. I'm not sure which speciesm, I think most recently I had some less known species from Floribunda: Latania burbonica

William

I think that Latania borbonica is a select form of Latania lontaroids.
