Mild oceanic climate, with coastal exposure.

 

Summer: 12°C (53°F) average min, to 21°C (70°F) average daily max. Up to 40°C (104°F max) rarely.

 

Winter: 6°C (43°F) average min, to 13°C (55°F) average daily max. Down to 0°C (32°F) occasionally, some light frost.

Trying to find out what kind it is!

It's not an armata, which is a lot smaller, and the leaves make a much smaller fan, and are much bluer.

Dave, it looks to me like Brahea 'clara" AKA Brahea armata var 'clara'. Leaves are soft and dangly at the ends, which means they move and rustle in the breeze, unlike armata, whose leaves are stiff. And yes, mine does also look like it can eventually become quite a monster!

Nice photo - now I know that brahea crowns are super-dense with what looks like 40 fronds. I hope it let you keep your shoe Dave, it looks many sizes too small for it :mrlooney:
