Jeff, have you had any problems with damping-off or general decline, especially with P. javana? I have a heck of a time keeping that one alive in the greenhouse.

Hi Jon, I have only one P. javana and I haven't had any problems with it over the last few years.

Sorry to hear you are struggling with yours.

I found them to be dampening off in the shadehouse when they are too wet. Keep them in the well drained mix and control the watering. Once they get bigger, they are not too bad. I have more luck with them now...

Mikey,

Any photo of those ones?? I love pinanga... just for some reason, I have more calyptrocalyx... BTW, the calyptrocalyx bath seems to work!! Thanks for that...

I just love these Pinanga caesia and the deep purple of the leaves. The color holds for such a long time as well.

Interesting how pronounced the mottling is on Jeff's plant whereas on mine it's practically non existent. Plant

variability I imagine. They are starting to grow very fast which I wasn't expecting.

I forgot to include Pinanga coronata. These photos are from a neighboring farm as ours is in so much shade that it's hard to get a good photo. It may be more common than some, but still very lovely. I'm glad it's clustering since a tree fell on our largest (maybe 15 feet) one between July and November sometime. The others just shifted to steal the sunnier spot.
