Hi Richard,

How's the weather back home cos....I'll be home in 9 days time

and I'm looking forward to the cooler weather. :drool:

Now just basically ramenta are the fluffy scales, now thats lay mans terms

real basic,there's a great spot on the web WWW.thefreedictionary.com it's

great for those wanting to learn the more tech/terms..

I hope the weather holds for you Mikey, it has been mostly excellent for about two months already though many are now worried about drought!

I guess those ramenta must serve some purpose but it is curious how some species in the same genus have them and some don't. I wonder if it somehow deters insect pests which might be present only in certain habitats.

Richard, ramenta basiclly are hairs that protect new growth or foilage....normally on ferns.
