This palm is growing at a friend's place in Costa Mesa Ca. There were 2 plants in the original pot-he pulled the smaller one out and has grown it up for a few years, the bigger one went into the ground. He was going to give me the smaller plant, but wasn't sure whether it was also an Attalea geraensis, or just a random hitchhiker.

Here is the bigger plant in the ground:

And here is the smaller plant in a pot, along with it's seed. Is it also an Attalea geraensis?

I seem to remember the Attalea having big leaves like that as a "youngin"..

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

Both the seed and the leaves look like an Attalea to me.

Certainly looks like my young Attalea dubia. I'd say Attalea, at least.

Bump!  I'd love to know if this palm is still alive and growing.  Maybe Peter can post an update?  I also have this palm and I've posted in on Palm Talk a few times.  Haven't known of any others around.  Would love an update.  thanks!
