Hi Bill, Planted most of my bamboo about last October from either 200 or 250ml pot size. So, not very big at all. We had an enormous growing season last Spring Summer and into Autumn. Now we are having a cold dry winter which hopefully will turn for the better very soon.

I see my little bamboo node thread was lost on the many. It is always the little things that are missed.

Very true. I've been admiring the nodes on my Dendrocalamus latiflorus recently. I think bamboos in general are either loved or hated.

Bill, all the Large Dendrocalamus under great growing conditions are pushing Massive new shoots after just a few short years. Bill, because of your climate and higher rainfall, I would expect your Black Asper to be at the size of the one pictured with my wife within four to five years. We have 10 of these scattered on our property and this being the largest as its beside a permanent flowing creek. They respond very well to manures. Heres 2 pics of the same clump taken today. ps The width of new culms 6 feet above ground is 9 inches. All Best Pete

I'm an infrequent lurker but always enjoy your boo pics Wal so don't be discouraged by the quiet. I am excited about my nodes as well.
