Show us the Jubea you kept with the orange petioles; that should be a treat.

Here are an example of a relatively flat leaved and a twisted droopy leaved Jub. Excuse the potassium deficiency, we are working on that but it takes some time during a drought to correct.

Has anyone crossed Jubaea with Parajubaea or with Lytocaryum ? What about Parajubaea with Lytocaryum ?

I tried Lytocaryum pollen on Butia: zero seed set and Cocos nucifera on Lytocaryum weddellianum also not succesfull.

Lytocaryum hoehnei pollen on L.weddelianum are producing good fruits.....

Patrick thinks he has crossed one of my Jubaeas with Coconut. A few seeds are forming but it's to early to tell if it's a true cross. He also crossed Syagrus R. with Coconut, but the seedlings are small and to early to tell what they are.

I tried Cocos pollen on my queen palms and there was no seed set!!!:(

Differently S.romnz x S.schyzophilla set normal amount of seeds but they don´t germinate. I´m now harvesting some S.romnz. x S.glaucescens and in a few months also S.romanz. x S.botriophora.

Alberto, I have also tried fresh Coconut pollen on both Butia and Syagrus several times with no success. I am trying again this week with another variety of Coconut pollen with the help of a friend. I am hopefull that it will work, but not very optimistic. Tim

fingers crossed for you!!!:)

Here is a Jub that is somewhere between flat and twisted here since 2008. The second photo is a small JxB with yellow/orange petioles. It could be a deficiency but is otherwise healthy. The color is deeper than the pic portrays due to the sun washing it out.

Arguably the trunking Jubea in Orlando is the equivalent to the Corypha growing in La Jolla, CA. Pretty cool!

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!
