I recently trimmed off the last of this past winter's freeze damage (28 F) and I thought this was worth a photo. It's from a Coccothrinax miraguama ssp. Roseocarpa growing in my yard and was the only frond that had this strange pattern.

Any guesses why??

That's what I would have guessed...but it was fully opened and was in the lower (older) part of the crown when the freeze hit. It was partially protected by the fronds directly above it which could? account for the weird spaced green areas.

Interesting looking frond, hopefully you won’t be getting any more looking like that from cold damage. I really need to come out to your place; maybe Saturday after the Palm Club picnic. I’m starting to formulate my Coccothrinax and Cycad Island in my front yard and I know that you have everything that I need.
