I love tropical water lilies and one of my favorites is the Australian water lily Albert de Lestang ,N. gigantea. These are massive plants and the flowers are easily 15cm in diameter standing 80-100 cm above the water making them quite visible.Mine bloom year round. The flower has a hint of blue on the first day and them becomes bright white.

Those are gorgeous. Can you tell us more about your pond? More photos? Something for scale? Water lilies are so photogenic. :)

Kim, I have waterlilies in both my gardens. The one pictured is from the beach garden. That pool is 4m in diameter and 1m deep.It is packed with lilies,no water visible. The pond at my highland garden is new and is much larger 10m x 8m.The water temperature is cooler and there is less sun so fewer blooms than I get at the beach.I will take more photos today of the beach pool and some of the larger pool when I go back Sunday.

My pond was wrecked in the floods and I reluctantly decided not to rebuild it. However after looking at the waterlilys, I am starting to be tempted again.

These are from my new highland pond. This pond has much cooler water and far less sun than the beach pond,so fewer flowers. Most days during the rainy season are dark and misty with less than two hours of sun per day.The dry season is much sunnier so my lilies actually do better from DEC.to MAY.

Victoria blossom just about to open, the scent is like pineapple and banana, very strong

The pond is 10m x 8m and I am planting the edges with lush foliage and bromeliads for color.

I grew a Victoria this year, it has just started flowering. Flowers are open 2 nights, white the 1st, very different and pink the second.
