Very close, Alex, the second seedling is actually the entire leaf form of Elaeis guineensis, seed came from Thailand.

The first photo is a Bactris pickelli, a rare species native to the atlantic forest of my town, now almost extinct in habitat.

Sirinhaém beach, 80 Km south of Recife - Brazil

Tropical oceanic climate, latitude 8° S

Temperature extremes: 25 to 31°C

2000 mm average rainfall, dry summers

Gileno, I was going to guess Elaeis sp. because I have trouble telling them apart. But I decided to go with E. oleifera because it's native to South America.

Here is a palm I handled today. The locals will know it but lets see if Alex or someone else gets it.

I figured it may take a guess or 2. If CFKINGFISH sees it I bet he will get it.
