Here is one from farther away. This palm has not bloomed yet. I am waiting to see the spike and flowers to confirm its type and even then if it looks like a hybrid I may never know who the parents are. One thing for sure is this palm has lots of color.

Jody - if this photo is current, could not be cold damage. As to K/Mag deficiency, I don't believe the this palm could have manifested such a severe deficiency so fast. Being in West palm, it was not in the ground two cold seasons ago.

I suspect that this is a sunburn on the Vershaffeltia splendida. :unsure: Just my speculations ...

I think you may be right. I've seen cooler weather cause this oranging affect to the leaves before ...:blink:

I agree as well (I always forget about that species or some reason)... it does, indeed, look more like Phoenicophorium... and I, too, have seen the "oranginess" in the leaves of this species, though I don't know what causes it, and I haven't seen it to that extent.

That is a fantastic photo, Ken. I took a few new guessing game photos today as well. Let's see if anyone gets this one. I have no idea what species it is, but I would be willing to send some fresh (uncleaned) seeds of Zamia floridana 'Palatka Giant' to the winner (assuming s/he is in the US).
