I would appreciate help from anyone who is familiar with these palms as a search of old PT posts and other palm sites, though informative, did not give me the information I need. What can I expect for total height and width? Riffle says the sylvicola's trunk reaches 60'. Can anyone confirm this? Our ravaka needs to be repotted or go in the ground. Since they reputedly have sensitive roots, we'd prefer to give it a permanent home.

Thanks,

Lee

I'm not sure on O. sylvicola and it's ultimate height in cultivation. I did see O. ravaka in Madagascar while there, and was blown away from thier orange coloring on the lower base. From what I remember, they were around 25-30' maybe. Extreamly nice!

I'm not sure what to expect in cultivation, but O. sylvicola does get 50-60' in Thailand. The leaves are 10-12 foot long. We've planted out 2, one in 2006 & one in 2008. The second one we put out in 2008, is finally starting to put on some real growth, the first one may be on its way to the green waste pile at the dump! At least for us, this species was slow.
