Has anyone noticed the new fronds on their palms opening before the frond has fully developed? I find the frond opening up right as it exits the crown instead of developing and opening all at once. I have attached a picture for reference although a new frond is in the way.

I actually have a few palms that does that. My A. Maxima recently did that and then straightened out as it opened.

I find this happens with alot of my palms but particularly all my Archontopheonix. Eventually they push the rest of the spear and leaves and petiole seem totally fine. I'm DEFINITELY no palm expert, but I don't think you need to stress. Peace

Sounds good. Not too stressed out about it. More curious to know if it is a result of climate, soil, fertilizer or something more interesting.

I've found that when this happens it's an indicator that the palm struggling a bit. I've heard some say that it's like the palm is trying to open the frond as early as possible to try and get more photosynthesis done. Sometimes a few of the first sun acclimated leaves on a palm that's been grown in shade will be so much shorter that it'll appear to be doing this as well. As long as it's still growing it's usually not a huge problem. Just keep an eye on that palm and try and keep it well watered and fertilized.
