Dypsis ID ?

Hello !

I just bought those 4 seedlings as dypsis decaryi but for me, it's not decaryi...

Those palms are more than 2 years old for ~25cm high... Normaly decaryi aged 2 years are taller : ~70/80cm...

As you can see on the picture, the young palms are pink, orange or cream...

Do you have some idea regarding the ID ?

Maybe bejofo ?

I think it's Dypsis decaryi, but you might have some sort of nutrient deficiency going on. I've never seen those color leaves before.

I'm sure that it's not nutrient deficiency because the seeds were sold to this man as yellow / pink / orange decaryi and he got those colors on seedlings... He has red/green too (normal ones) growing 5 times quickler

seems like some type of genetic abnormality. would like to know if EVERY leaf opens like that on each plant. other than that they look like standard decaryi based on the trunk and leaflets. Dypsis decaryi hybrids can sometimes open with a red new leaf.

Yes, every leaf opens like this on each plant, even when the palm is adult !

Red new leaf for decaryi is normal...
