Now that yours is bigger, do you no longer need to protect the roots for them to reach the ground?

Jon, It seems like it's hit or miss as far as the roots hitting the ground. Some roots head right for the ground and then a few will just curly-cue and never make it to the soil. I was thinking about

covering the root skirt with shade cloth again, but still just a thought. The number of secondary roots off the main stem once it hits the ground is amazing and weave themselves like fabric into the

soil.

Thanks so much for bumping this topic John2468!

Memories abound since my posts were written when I still lived in VA with photos from my first farm in PR. 

I still love palms with stilt roots so planted many on my forever farm beginning in 2017. 

I will try for some photos to add here soon.
