After watching my chambeyronia macrocarpa keep its color for one month, I wanted to know if there is any palm that keeps color longer. This is the longest I have seen from my any of my palms. I think the color last longer in the cooler winter climate. This palm is planted under the canopy of a CIDP and only gets late afternoon/evening sun.

Post photos of your palm or share experiences on how long a palm can keep its new red leaf.

A month is very impressive! And "how long" probably depends on your definition of "red". The so called maroon Areca vestiaria will hold the maroon color for several months before transitioning into green.

Salacca affinis, if the new leaf unfolds begining of the cool dry season it will last three months before it gets anything near a flush of green doing everything besides, turning puce then orange then sunset till eventualy things warm up and it can relax again into a nice bright green.

I have noticed the vibrancy and the duration of red is dependant on the humidity for me. If it is shaded out, that helps too.

My Pinanga caesia's hold their color for a month or more and then slowly change to the mottled green. My Chambeyronia hookeri

hold the color for about two weeks and the standard macrocarpa's maybe last a week.

This is a good question, and to be perfectly Frank, I really don't know the answer, but I think if you look at the entire period of leaf opening, then perhaps the Chambys are in the running, thanks Frank you can go now.

In saying thus, in the next couple of posts, there's some redness and close shades of same on some of my palms I photographed this afternoon..

This palm would be a contender, Dypsis crinita (I think)

Taken this afternoon, a few different angles.
