Someone chime in, but I would say it's a rare site to see Dypsis fibrosa, Dypsis decipiens, and Socratea exorrhiza all growing together(and not in Hawaii)! I have heard too much anecdotal evidence towards decipiens being a 'no grow' but Those roots are making me want to pull the trigger on a Socratea--AWESOME!!

I went through to look at the ID's.. I saw 2 that illustrated a point I made a long time ago... that there were TWO different Ravenea sambiranensis going around.

Case in point: The last 2 pics of Post 11 are labeled as Ravenea sambiranensis.... one is upright and rusty brown petioles, the other shorter, recurved fronds and white petioles... ONE of them isn't "THE" palm.. (both cool though)

Thanks for the post Olivier

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Not sure at all that both are really R sambiranensis :winkie:

There were named like that but ...

The last time i went to madagascar (Andasibe), i saw a lot of big Ravenea but it was very difficult for me to identify them : R sambiranensis, R robustior and others ....
