I grow these in Socal and have one about 10ft tall has made it through our mild winters here in our zone 10A with light frost. Comes back from the base every year and currently in a 25 gallon fabric pot. If any one is interested hit me up I grow these yearly for the most part from seeds. I will also have 3 other different species of Cecropia by next year including Palmata. I must say I do use plant hormones to help with cold hardiness and make it a stronger tree.

Do you ever sell just the seeds?  I would buy a plant from you if you would ship it.

I purchased one Cecropia peltata on Ebay (from Alex).  The grower, Alex,  was nearby, so I picked it up and saved it from the stress of shipping in the mail.  I planted it a week ago, and it has already increased in size.

Hello,

I would greatly appreciate your assistance regarding the Cecropia Peltata tree.
Do I need to have a male and female plant in order to have fruit?
I have a plant that looks like it has some pieces coming out, not sure if they are fruit or what,

I am not sure if I need a male and a female in order to have fruit, and I am not sure if the plant I have is  a male or female plant.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thank you!!
