Had these babies for many years and they are generally problem free.

I usually forget about them and expect them to have suffered a lot from neglect whenever I do remember to check up on them.

The only frustrating thing about them was it was taking so long for them to produce the typical bifid leaf form that they are known for.

Had these seedling for more than 5 years already if memory serves me correctly

Finally some of them are putting out those unique looking leaves

Dear Gene,

Have you seen the white color underneath of the leaves ?

I also got 2 seedlings from Clayton more than 2 years ago. I did the same as you said, ignored them somewhere in my garden, never change the media and they still show simple leaves as normal Licuala.

What I have to do to accelerate the growth ?

I haven't checked under the leaves. I did not know that they also had white undersides. That's a nice bonus feature!

For accellerated growth i havent done anything except repot them about a year ago. I never fertilized these because I read that for licualas it can burn the roots.

into a much bigger pot but I don't think that was necessary yet because the roots did not even reach the sides of the old pot yet.

Gene, your Pre Ati is looking stunning, cant wait for mine to look the same.

Vasin, Romber and Pre Ati are 2 "Different Licualas", ( both from New Guinea) Yes Romber has white underneath( eventually, not when young) Pre Ati doesnt have any white under the leaves.

Gene your growth is very fast, mine still looks like a young Joey, ( like yours did 18months ago)

I love this one and don't have it. Maybe someday it will be available over here. Thanks for sharing the photos!

Gene,

Wow, nice to see you have some of these as well. I bought some seed many years ago as well and very proud to have this unknown species. Undoubtly, this would be one of the rarest Licuala species in the world,IMO. Mine are the same size, and get some brown tipping on the edge. Slow, slow and slow! Thanks.

Yes I agree Jeff, these guys are slow but at least they are not as finicky as other licualas. Can you post pictures of yours? I was actually hoping you would have a mature specimen of this species.

Does anyone on Palmtalk board have a large specimen of this palm?

Gene,

I have no camera at the moment. It broke somewhere underwater in the waters of Antigua 3 months ago. No lie.....

I hope to have one before Thailand.
