Thanks for the comments.

I need more, because it's evident it's not showing up the same on all computers.

Some have found that black band at the base distracting both for the color and the width. I can make it skinnier, maybe change the color.

Some have found that the typeface for the text does not contrast well with the background.

I can tweak things a bit, but I'd like to know problems to solve. Perhaps nice black text on a whiter background?

Anyway, thoughts are sought, there's a lot more to do, but I want to help resurrect the PSSC . . . .

The hosting service offers other templates, and we can switch at any time. I wanted one that was good for both text and pictures.

Dave, don't forget you need to test with all browsers. Code is not always handled the same across browser platforms and versions. As a web designer you will find this is the biggest headache. What works on IE7, may not display properly on IE8, Firefox, or Safari on a Mac.

For example, whatever code you are using for the following is apparently not valid for the latest version of Safari on Macs.

Hey Dave - first off the site looks good, nice job. Only one complaint on my end, I went to order the box of PSSC back issues, and when I click on the paypal link, it comes up in paypal as a charge for $65 and says "Regular Membership Foreign" in the description. I tried to change the amount on my own, but could not. Maybe you can change that. In the meanwhile, you could send me the paypal address and I'll send the money over for that.

Yes Dave - Paypal link graphics are working now on my Mac with Safari 6.0.1.

But going forward you will need to set up some protocol to confirm your site is working properly across all platforms and browsers. Or at least the most used - as illustrated below. As you can see, if you are only testing your site on IE 9, you can only be sure it is working as designed for 12 percent of internet users.

I don't think templatemonster.com does cross browser/OS testing. I have used crossbrowsertesting.com and browsershots.org

But for testing reasons, I have both Windows and Mac machine(s) with multiple booting options on each, and with several different browsers installed for each OS. For my needs, I have found this to be a better option.

I think something more basic should turn the trick in my case for now.

If and when we start to put Palms of So Cal online and charge for it, then we load for bear . . .

Some people tell me the text is too hard to read, others say that the black bar at the base takes up too much space.

Oh no you didn't! I just changed out a few pictures, which is still in progress. Others need to have their time in the spotlight, though I'm also well aware a few will have more than their share for the time being.

I'm still fiddling with the site, and haven't gotten a routine down. If you want a copy of the picture for yourself, send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send it to you.

If you have a picture of your own you'd like me to use, send it to me and I'll try to use it. The bigger the file the better (1 mb or larger). Small pictures won't show up well.

The website is going to get a lot more elaborate in a bit -- I just need to get to it.

Hmm. Maybe a gallery of members' pictures? Hmmmmmmmm
