Yet another palm I've never heard of.....you tropics people kill me with your endless species. Cool but enviable.

Seeds from RPS germinated well for me several years ago. My seedlings looked healthy initially, but believe it or not, even I thought I should grow them up a bit before planting them. It was a mistake. I was down to one which was declining so I planted it last summer out of desperation. My husband reported it as deceased last November. It's the one with the dime in the photo. The first photo I believe is from Fairchild Gardens inside their old greenhouse. The others are two species from Nong Nooch-hover for names.

I do plan to try again as it's a nice palm! If anybody knows of someone who sells them and ships to Virginia, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll try seeds again and get them in the ground sooner.

Thanks Philippe and Cindy for the photos. I saw that patch of Sommieria in Singapore and wow, they were beautiful.

I have no idea how old the large ones in the Singapore garden must be, because I don't think these are fast growing palms.

I was lucky enough to find one back here in Hilo.

Here are a couple of pics, one in Singapore and the little one in my garden. Both are S.leucophylla

Yours is not little Tim! I am very jealous! Both of your photos show gorgeous plants. I didn't even know they got that big...
