Today, officially, all papers has been signed;

Doranakandawatta Estate belongs to us now!

4 acres of the wild jungle hill, with the ruins of the british bungalow, a spring and a good length of stream bank (lovely small stream, 200 m away from his starting spring!)

Endemic Oncosperma, Caryota and Areca concinna and many other wild trees are there. Next land will be cinnamon and Cardamum plantation .

it seems the place was not cultivated since the british people left, We'll have a good soil!

Only remain the Mangosteen grove which the indian man, manager for the british family, suggested to try in this country.

I'll plant the first tree on my next journey in april.

Promise: I'll do a celebration for all Palmtalk members and put a Palmtalk thread print in a bottle under the roots of the tree, but which palm species ?

you'll have to help me to decide what to plant where!

More news and pics soon!

Regards

Philippe

The property is on this google picture, above the straight line which is a small road, on the pic higher than the 2 squares, where it's wild!

in the area called mangosteen garden (village under mangosteen trees!) Mangosteen are so delicious and you'll get them from april to august! you can count the mangosteen trees on google earth!

This is the vegetation we have there!

I hope to find Oncosperma seedlings or seeds. Next time!

Caryotas are fine and belong to the place... and I love Arecas!
