Good guess!!! I had a tree blow over in our bad weather a few weeks ago so and while I had the chainsaw out I did a bit of extra "pruning"

I have always planned to remove these trees as the palms grow and have been doing so slowly over the past year or 2 but today was their last day!! Its time to let the bad boy palms loose and take up their rightful pride of place!!

The syzigium leumanii have made way for the 2 x D. carlsmithii, 2 x K. oliviformis, 2 x D. cabadae, and two of my cab hybrids!!

I plan on filling the remaining trunks with many Aechmea orlandiana type bromeliads and having two small brom trees under the palms

Looking good! Those palms will shoot up now with some more sun hitting em.

Thats pretty convenient that the tree got blown over. Great idea with the bromeliad tree btw.

I not Anticipating too much burn on these guys, sun doesnt seem that hot currently and they all got some afternoon sun prior to pruning.

Best parts are that more rain will get into the soil now, less ( read none ) annoying leaf litter all over my palms plus sun all day! They should be happy!!

I had the crown of a huge Corymbia maculata come crashing down due to ex TC Oswald a couple of weeks ago. It took out one of my Hyophorbe indicas and upset a Parajubaea cocoides as well...needless to say the whole tree is now gone as it presented a danger to life and limb. Now for those two palms to recover...

The difference in light is amazing though and no more leaf or bark litter!
