We have a little over 450 Sabal palmetto growing in the main campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee,FL zone 8b that show considerable variation. One of the things that has interested me is the difference in trunk diameter in specimens- I realize that there are a number of factors that can contribute to such variation-but I supect that genetics plays a strong role. Do you know of anyone who has documented some of these differences and/or has propagated "skinny" or "stocky" Sabal palmet
