I'm trying to figure out why all of my fan palms have yellow and brown tips on all of the leaves. We've had to very mild winters. Typically, except for the filibusta, the robusta leaves fry out pretty badly at 24 degrees each year, but not this year since it barely got down to 28. I'm concerned that maybe the yellow leaf tips indicate potassium deficiency. I have a fairly large CIPD that suffers from that. Any ideas. We have been in an exceptional drought for the last several years here in the SE, but I don't notice these same issues just 20 miles away and over the GA border in Savannah.

Thanks! I would love to see some normal looking palm leaves in my yard on something other than the sabals and pindo.

I am seeing the same thing here. We were home free, but then a late freeze snuck in on us after all of the plants had let their guard down and were in full spring growth. It seems one of the things reacting the worst are the robusta/filibusta. Many yellow fans and brown tips on almost every leaf, new and old.

Okay, so it's not just me then. That makes me feel a little better. We only had two freezes this winter, but we did have some late spotty frosts in early March. They probably didn't like that after sitting in Miami weather all winter.
