Hello,

I've tried and experiment with ginger from a shop. I was suprised how fast it grows!

It was normal rhizome that you can buy.

Seeing the first shoot of any new plant is always an exciting thing to witness!! Divide and Conquer!!!

Good for you!

I've had good luck with growing this from grocery store rhizomes in pots in Virginia as well. When they become dormant or frost threatens I move them inside and try not to overwater them.

Lots of neat plants can come from grocery store purchases-papayas and Tamarinds for example.

Oddly enough I just dug up one I planted a few weeks ago, saw that it was budding out and put it back.

We'll see if I have similar results soon!
