Had the luck to meet bromeliad hybridizer Dennis Heckart at the Maku'u Market near Pahoa, Hawaii. He was so generous and kind enough to allow a garden visit. I only had my phone for a camera, but what a place.

A couple of neon photos -- can you find the geckos? :)

Dennis with a favorite bromeliad which produces a shocking-pink inflorescence. Not yet released commercially.

I like that I spied this thread as a Gieco commercial came on TV.. I spied a TV one and yours

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Nice florescent blue eyes

My husband and I are liking these plants more and more. The gecko is cute too!

If the broms from last year's PT fundraiser have made it, I'll take photos in a couple of weeks.

I also see the gecko in the first photo, green and white, a little harder to spot than the peering eyes in the second that has been pointed out.

Corpus Christi, TX, near salt water, zone 9b/10a! Except when it isn't and everything gets nuked.

Nice broms and nice geckos, which look like the genus Phelsuma. I heard that day geckos are naturalized to Hawaii, but I didn't know if they were localized to one island or throughout the archipelago.

Yup, there is a gecko in each of the first two photos. The first one is the hardest to find, though he is in plain sight, he blends into the inflorescence. I don't know where they are from originally, but I get a real kick out of watching them.
