Can anyone give me some advice on what to do with this Mexican fan palm.

I trimmed the brown fronds off in the spring and ever since this thing is getting worse.

Are those power lines touching it?

No, the wires are a good distance away.

I saw 5 of those in a single yard, die one after the other over a year's time. Kinda scared me. I was wondering if it was some type of herbicide.

I did use the same saw to trim this palm that I had used on a few other palms and some Banana trees.

The Banana trees aren't doing to well either, the leaves are coming out all chewed up looking. They are starting to come around though.

I sprayed some insect killer on the palm and bananas and a few weeks later I sprayed some fungacide on both as well.

On the fan palm I climbed up a ladder and tried to get the fungacide up into the crown. Problem is I don't know if that is what it needs or if anything will help at all.

looks like it was struck by lightening...its a goner

Looks like the roots are rotting, but I can't be sure.

There is about a 6" section of roots showing all the way around the trunk which look healthy. When I planted this several years ago I planted it up sort of high with plenty of mulch. I've been to busy this year to add more mulch to cover the visible roots but I did make it a point to do it yesterday. I have seen other palms with roots showing above the surface of the ground which appear to still be healthy.

I've seen pics of palms with freeze damage that looked similar to that one, however I'll take a wild guess and say it looks like Fusarium wilt.

No freeze this last winter. Read a little about Fusarium wilt and that may be the culprit. The cause may be using the same saw on this palm as I used on some banana trees, one of which never grew back after cutting. Thanks for steering me in that direction Howard007.

Found another possible cause, Petiole (Rachis) Blight. Hopefully it's this second one because it may not be fatal.
