While I was out yesterday taking pictures of my Dypsis marojejyi, I saw alot of color in new leaves. Also there's a tremendous amount of color in the crowns, trunks, and infructescence. Here's a few I thought I would share.

Jeff

Edit; Almost forgot to mention what your looking at. This is Calyptrocalyx albertianus.

Ok....here's my one mystery palm. I can see a debate on this one. This came in from seed as Dypsis malcomberi. I have some doubts though. For the most part, they are single trunk. A few have come up as doubles. Their very fast, showing an amazing amount of color and are already adapting to full sun. Any ideas on the species?

Jeff,

this is one of my favorites. Thanks for the pic. It must not be too popular though, I see I was the only one that voted for it in Wal's poll.

ps: The pink Dypsis is looking good too! I just planted some of these seeds, so with any luck I will have some soon.

Awesome photos Jeff,

Your mystery Dypsis looks like it has some affinity with saintlucei to me.  The patterning and the crown shape and structure are very similar.  Are the leaves also similar to saintlucei, on the thick side, any differential coloring from bottom and top of leaf?  I'm not saying it's saintlucei, it's obviously different, but maybe it's a similar palm.  Cool looking whatever it is.

I wish my Dypsis 'pink crown' held that much color.  From what I've seen low humidity tends to makes palms much less colorful.
