Was taking freeze damage photos today.

The Lytocaryum Hoehnoi that Glenn Harris gave a couple of years ago looks great!

Unprotected- Zero damage!

Then I noticed that the thing is flowering!.

Rafael,

No, it gets full sun for about half a day, then filtered sun.

I'd say its too dainty for full sun here where we see 100f mid summer .... regularly.

... strain pollen to clean it form other flower parts and place also a dessicant in the container. Gilles what is the best temperature for pollen storing?

Will they self pollinate?

It's Syagrus now. Very neat milestone--Usually they need a little help to pollinate themselves(like tie the inflorescences together).

Has all Lytocaryum been moved to Syagrus, or only this one?

All of them.

Since when? Got a reference?

I don't know, but I know. ;)

Seriously though, genetic tests show it is indeed a Syagrus and when the taxonomists get around to it, the $species will be placed there--not sure why it's not already done. :hmm:

I don't know, i am not a specialist. But from what i have read, you dry first the pollen and after you can put it in your freezer.

salut.
