Now that its possible to easily cut a pattern into steel or aluminium given a CAD file with a laser, people are making gates with a range of themes such as garden tools, australian native plants, etc. Has anyone out there seen a laser cut gate with a palm motif on it?

Any photos would be interesting.

One of the important things about such designs is that they do not produce sharp edges which can cause injury.... thats part of the trick of doing the design, but it also has to do with the thickness of the material.

The resulting design can be powder coated, or treated to have a fast uniform rust coat.

The big orange box cells security doors with an image of a palm that is cut with a laser. The steel one is around $400, and the aluminum one is around 1400 dollars, but has a lifetime warranty from what I remember. The steel rusts quickly...

Chris, I saw these metal panels on a hotel in Palm Springs, Ca. and thought they were so well designed I had to stop and take a few photos. I would love to have

a few of these myself.

On another trip back last year the hotel changed ownership and now the panels are painted some hideous green color as I recall. From elegant to cheap with a

stroke of a brush. Ugh!

Tim those screens are unreal, shame about the new colour. Most I have seen have a licuala ramsayi pattern. I have seen a nice one done in rusted steel with a protective coating which look really good.
