Congrats Kris!

I know this is your favorite palm and it is good to hear you are having luck with your seeds!   Thanks for the photo...  interesting that it has 4 roots!

Last night I opened my germination tank and found some bluish white mold on one of my P. ekmanii seeds!     Everyone told me it was a possibility!  I just didn't want to think it could happen to me!  I added a (very) heaping tablespoon of Captan fungicide to the 13 gallons of water and won't be watering again for another week!

On a different Psuedophoenix note, my viniferas are starting to send out radicals!  Hope they sprout little green leaves before the fungi-monsters attack them too!

Good luck with the rest of your seeds and keep us posted on their progress!

Dear William  :)

thanks for your compliments but i did not observe that it has

4 roots in them ? wow its a kind a strange baby, will it survive

and have you seen my germination room in hey my first floor

is full topic.so no bottom heat or heat bed used.since the

temperature is hot..

and i recomand you to shift to baggie method, your apparatus

seems to me as a humidity engine, which will bread more

fungus & moss than living saplings. And iam not joking you

work since i now standing before you after my first round

of experminenting.and i do not encourage people to walk

on the wild side_i.e spending which will not yield more

successes.

Dear Komikrit  :)

Hey i must say god is very kind to me lately, since all the favouriate palms are all sprouting in my dark room.but

not many but iam contented.

Thanks Kris for your update (after 6 years) of your Psedophoenix ekmanii to show us how nice your palm looks growing in container. Whatever you have done seems to work well for you. I too, am happy to be growing this unique palm. I have one in ground that is about 1.3 meters (4ft.) tall and another in a one-gallon-size container of which the newest leaf is 3.5cm (14 inches) long. Here are several pics to show them:

Hawaii Island (Big Island), leeward coast, 19 degrees N. latitude, south Kona mauka at approx. 380m (1,250 ft.) and about 1.6 km (1-mile) upslope from ocean.

No record of a hurricane passing over this island (yet!).

Summer maximum rainfall - variable averaging 900-1150mm (35-45") - Perfect drainage on black volcanic rocky soil.

Nice sunsets!
