I found this palm in the trash can of an office. Having been yanked from the pot to discard, there was no dirt on the root, and it had one poor pathetic scale ridden leaf left on it. But it was alive. After applying magical healing powers, it has become a fine looking little fellow.

Agree. Most people don't realize this is a solitary palm sold artificially clumped in garden centers. Much better looking grown as it wishes.

You know I figured it was elegans, but had never seen one solitary, and with that ivory base at the new shoot. So, like all palmnuts had just hoped out on a long shot it might be something different.

In this case I was getting a cup of coffee in the company lunchroom, lol. But I am not above dumpster diving for plants.
