I came across Mauser's photobucket account and it has some amazing photos, a lot that I don't recognize. Mauser hasn't been active on PalmTalk since 2011, not sure what happened to him. But there are some pretty darn amazing photos here.

What in the world is this, a red butia? Looks like some sort of really amazing hybrid!

This one I do know, this is butia x parajubaea cocoides, looks like Dick's BxPC.

Here's an interesting looking palm, almost looks like a sabal but can't be, hadn't seen this before, the petiole colors are stunning. Could it be latania? I think sabal, but sure has me baffled.

This thing seems rather tiny to be fruiting, what is it?

Hi Axel,

Yes the first one Red Butia is a hybrid.I have them growing in pots. Those were raised from seeds.the seeds were tagged as Butia x Jubaea. When i have time i will upload those stills.

And the latania that you have posted is an ordinary Borassus Flabellifer Palm i.e Asian Palmyra Palm. And the nice colour you see in it appear more in cooler regions. If you visit my old threads on Borassus you will see many visuals of this palm.

Love,

kris.

love conquers all..

Thanks, I found the borassus, it's in Tim McKernan's garden in Miami, http://www.palmtalk.org/forum/index.php?/topic/13549-borassus-flabellifer-in-murcia-spain/

So the butia x jubaea are yours then. They look really interesting!
