An old leaf just fell off the Areca catechu and exposed a new inflorescence. There are three stages of the inflorenscence just below the crownshaft. It has just started flowering last year but the flowers turn brown quickly and few seeds actually develop. I have noticed this on Areca triandra also, which seems to be a natural way of preserving the species.
