I have pulled a few of these. This is the first one to make it to 3 gallon stage intact.

I knew those last 4 words were in the post before I even opened it, lol.

I have had one that had 5 for a very short time that turned into a triple. The last question was silly.

I thought he would say, of course it is for sale. lol

I would guess the other seeds fell off that bundle or four. The photo of the bare root seedlings is far too grainy for me to accept as clustering--this was pulled from hundreds of germinating seeds, I also guess.

You would be guessing wrong Mandrew. One seed. I have pulled 5 quads over 5 years well over 100,000 seeds. This is the only one that has managed to get to this size. Here are some better photos. Not all of the same quad.

Looks strange, Erik. I think you are getting embryonic splitting due to cross-genus hybridizing. Doesn't look like clustering, but more so the palm producing twins, triplets... that's my guess. Thanks for sharing

That's one way to make an ugly palm 4x's uglier.

I am kidding. Jeez. :)

I have many many many species of palms. I do not, however, have a mule palm in my collection.

The mule palm is a great palm for those who do not live in good palm growing areas. People who can grow many palms usually grow much more appealing palms than the mule. Mule--what an attractive name! kidding as well--to each their own!

Very cool and unique. I bet you pull plenty of triples like I use to. I let them grow too large now in beds so the strongest only survive.

If you planted 5 germinated seeds, close together in a pot, would you have the same effect? Or, would it grow differently? Would the weaker seedlings get snuffed out?

same effect

Yes ugly tree with an ugly name. I suppose that is why Fishbranch trademarked a new name for it.

BBrantley We get plenty of triples and doubles.
