This palm has really been fun to watch grow. It's been fast for me, relatively carefree, and has lots of color.

It's gone from this:

To this:

In just under a year

The new spear starts to open when it's out about halfway and shows bright color all the way until opening and even then some. I really like the widely spaced leaflets, too.

Finally, I'm not quite sure this palm is just a variety of Pinanga coronata. Looking at the mature leaf shape, crownshaft color, etc, I really think it's something else. I won't be sure until it flowers, but that's my opinion.

Mine from Floribunda shown in an August 2013 photo in Puerto Rico was planted out from a seedling April 2010.

It's in mostly shade and did get pruned by cattle about a year ago. I hope the mottling stays and want to see the blue fruit someday!

I am afraid I'll post pics of overcooked Pinanga from Doranakanda garden, It's still dry and dry there.
I'll see that in one month. Does Palm Mod accept horror pictures?

Cindy,

Better to get pruned by cattle than staying thirsty for more than 2 months!

Same here, always have been. At least half of everything I'm growing right now is a Pinanga. I don't have much space, so I can only fit special stuff :)

Edit: I saw pics of your aristata in another thread, just recently got two myself:
