Is this Ganoderma zonatum? I don't think we have that here in CA. At least I've never heard of it killing palms.

It has killed all of mt 2 year old Dyppsis, all of my 5 year old D. sp. 'betefaka' (plumose form), all but three 5 year old D. ambositrae, and two of those are almost dead, and the list goes on, from what I understand it is one of several different genus, that comprise over 7000 species of 'Leaf rust' on the net there is fungicide that will treat it, some small bottles cost up to $899.00 a pint, Len has one of the brands, it was really expensive, HOW ABOUT IT LEN do you have any info, Ed

There is no cure if it is Ganoderma-and you should read this link as to how it spreads and remove the conks that I see on the trunks of your palms as they contain the spores that allows it to spread. Sorry this is happening to your trees. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/pp100

Hi Ed,

Just saw this. I don't have anything for Ganoderma as there is no cute :(. Sounds like your plants might be dying of a crown/root rot fungus (which there are many). I have Subdue for that. It wasn't $900 though but still not cheap either :).

You really must plant those ambos edric. Long term pot culture is so very tricky with these. So sorry to hear of those losses, most of us who experiment from seed know that feeling well!

Thanks Len, I'm sure it's 'Leaf Rust', it totally defoliated my Moms 50 year old 'Turkey bell' Fig, and no fruit last year, first time in 40 years. The local nurseries lost a bunch of stuff as well, said it was the worsrt year ever for 'Leaf rust', Ed
