Got my new babies. High dollar palms, so I want advice. They are Butia paraguayensis x Parajubaea cocoides. I transplanted them from root bound 1 gallons to 25 gallon tubs. They receive about 3-4 hours of sun a day. I started watering them about 1 gallon of fresh water from my pond daily. It is in the high 80s during the day and high 60s at night. I was thinking of wrapping the pots in reflective insulation to help keep the soil cool. I will grow these until they can no longer fit under my pop-up greenhouses that I use in winter, so they won't see freezing temps. Then I want to plant them poolside (I have yet to move into my permanent house and dig pool BTW)

I just picked up BPxPC from Patric as well, alongside a JxS. I just plopped mine in the ground in the front yard, in full sun, and it's doing great. It's already seen 103 degrees without a blemish.

Thanks, I may consider working it into full sun with that insulation on it.

I would. Patric told me the BPxPC would be fine in full sun right away. And our sun is intense this time of year. I spent a few weeks acclimatizing the JxS, but nothing too extensive. It's smaller but doing well too.

I wonder if the leaflets will become wider and denser if grown in full sun or as the palm matures. Pictures of these online look like there are many more leaflets in the fronds than my juveniles.
