beautiful colour on butia sp.

which butia sp. generates this colour? anyone?

last winter.

from year to year the colour is more intense...

Sergiskan, that's a fabulous palm! I love the color of that spear, that's a lovely butia, but I couldn't tell you which one it is. I've never seen it on any butia nor do I know of any species that is specifically this purple. Most likely this is a form of odorata, see >

was purchased at ebay 6 years ago as 2 strap leaves butia without surname.

i saw some butiagrus with spectacular colours, i do not find the pics...

I made these pictures this morning. In fact my Butia eriospatha is not so coloured as yours but it a jounger specimen; You can see the violet colour of the base of the petiole and the brown-reddish colour of the fibers and the gren leaves.

I'don't know his age. I planted the palm two years ago. It came from a nursery. At that time it was not so coloured, the violet colour was absent.

I just bumbled across a Butia with purple on the spear, petioles, and upper surface of the rachis. I was digging through a sea of 3 gallon blue pot pindos on sale at the local big box looking to maybe find a "strictior" form. No luck on the original mission, but I did take home this beautiful purple one for $14.95.

I'm always amazed at the variation in color, leaflet shape and texture in the Butia for sale in the blue pots.
