What can I do to save my Adonidia palms. Any help greatly appreciated.

Are they all like this?

Try adding trace elements containing Boron.

Yes I have two triples. One tree has two and the other triple has all three that look like this

Needs boron probably

Would a good palm fertilizer such a Lesco with Boron In it be sufficient.

yes it should be. being as these palms are so cheap, maybe just replace them.

Please see the attached pdf on boron deficiency in palms. We use a product called Solubor 4 oz (by weight) in 5 gal water to drench the root zone. Do not repeat within 4-6 months - too much boron can be bad also. - gmp

I use sunniland palm fertilizer two times per year and never an issue with mine. You can get it at Lowe's.

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth--you have found Palmtalk, now remove those wretched Christmas palms and plant some Satakentias! Welcome to Palmtalk :)

Easy Andrew you're going to scare him off. Welcome to Palmtalk nike10. Andrew's a palm snob don't worry about him. I wouldn't suggest ripping them out until you have at least 50 posts!

If he looks up Satakentia, he will want to rip them out! Palm snob? Afirmative.

Yes and you can add some extra boron by using Borax, but go easy to much of a good thing is bad,

I have plenty of exotic palms but I still love Christmas palms, they fill a niche in the landscape that few other palms can. I love Satakentia but these are not easy to grow, a least not for me, slow and painful for way to long.

Where in SW FL are you? How about checking out Carpoxylon macrospermum? Not easy to find and not cheap. You ought to check out Jeff Searle's fall sale and the Palm Beach fall sale. So many great palms to be had. OK, commercial over.

Meg I'm pretty experienced at growing palms, hundreds on my property. Out of 8 Carpoxylon macrospermum I have purchased over the years only 1 is still alive and it is slow growing and not very impressive yet. One of the last palms I'd ever recommend to a new grower having a hard time with one of the easiest palms for fl. Jeff's sale is a great idea though.
