Hey guys. Good thread. Here is a Socratea Salazarii, Areca Vestiaria and a couple young Verschafeltias to complement your pics.

Here are some "mini stilters". The first pic is Areca Ipot (I think). The second is an Iguanura Elegans. The third shows a young Drymophloes Sp. Irian Jaya.

These are juveniles so I don't know if the stilting will continue on as adults but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

Peace out,

Jason

Great thread. I'd contribute, but I'd need stilt roots! Haha. Enjoying the pics

When it comes to stilt roots, tough to beat a Socratea in the Amazonian rainforest! :mrlooney: This was last October near Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica, where the IPS held its annual board meeting.

Stilt roots! Great subject! I've never seen such red roots before, so flamboyant. And aren't the curling ones weird? They don't look like they would support a tall palm. Bo, I won't try to compete with the Amazon rainforest. Hey, that photo looks familiar...

So yes, I have a few, and I'm excited to be able to participate. Areca vestiaria maroon leaf:

This is an "old" pic of my son standing in front of a Socratea ex at Cairns BG.

I must add Kims pic of 1 of her many Stilt root Palms and imo 1 of the "most beautiful " Palms of the world being of course Iriartea deltoides, tried many times here , it survives but refuses to "keep growing".

Pete :)
