Alloxylon flammeum is a great Aussie native tree.

I planted this one about 8 years ago and it flowered for the first time last year with a couple of small flowers. This year it has got its act together and the entire tree is covered in buds. A few have already started flowering, but it should look great in a couple of weeks.

Gold Coast, Queensland Latitude 28S. Mild, Humid Subtropical climate. Rainfall - not consistent enough!

Still waiting for mine to flower Daryl. 3 years inground. A good steady grower though. I like the leaf shape.

Daryl or NApalm: Do either of you know of a source of seed for Alloxylon flammeum who could send them to me in the U.S.? For reasons unknown, seeds of this tree are very difficult to come by in the States. I understand there's one mature tree in San Diego (Balboa Park?), but I'm not aware of anyone else in California growing it. http://www.geographylists.com/alloxylon_flammeum.jpg

Any advice or suggestions are welcomed. You can DM me.

Thanks Daryl, I appreciate your suggestion. But for international customers that particular supplier requires a minimum $200 order + 10% surcharge + delivery costs. A bit out of my league for a USA destination. I'm working on another possible source outside of Oz, though even if I get viable seeds to germinate and grow, it'll still be a decade before I could expect flowers.
