Nice, my Heterospathe scitula have colour from the first leaf, although being a bronze colour it doesn't have quite the same impact.  I have noticed a quite pinkish hue on the second leaf of one of them.

I was trying to appeal to people's aesthetic instincts, but I seem to have tapped their culinary instincts instead.  :;):

Mike (in Kurtistown),

if I'm not mistaken, those are seeds from the H. intermedia at UH Hilo, during the garden tour there in mid Dec 06? I collected some seeds as well, and here's a shot of my seedlings.

Just want to confirm that the source was the trees at UH - Hilo. I was collecting right next to Bo. Mike, I have no idea what other possibility you were going to suggest.

The other 'sp' I was thinking of or as I said {possible you

They look so much like  D.micrantha, esp at that stage

I have a bunch of these same plants, from this same palm. With permission, we were allowed to collect seeds there when we were at the biennial. There were some nice palms I remember, while we spent time there.
