This one belongs to my neighbor and she sent the photo for confirmation of the name. What a beauty! If you need more views to decide I'm still in PR.

Also, what's the simplest way to rotate a photo taken on an iPhone ? Thanks!

Hi Cindy. The leaves look like Asterogyne martiana.

Tampa, Interbay Peninsula, Florida, USA

subtropical USDA Zone 10A

Bokeelia, Pine Island, Florida, USA

I would have to agree with Ray..

Carlsbad, California Zone 10 B on the hill (402 ft. elevation)

Sunset zone 24

Thank you for helping out! It does look very similar, but Asterogyne martiana has red fruits, and this one has light orange, almost peach colored fruits. Clean seeds are about 1/4" long.

Above is what Sherry wrote. Any thoughts? I can't find the fruit color for A. spicata for example.

So here's my Asterogyne martiana from today planted August 2009. post-4111-0-58878200-1421791658_thumb.jp

Here's a light colored fruit that I assume is immature.

Here's probably the first mature seed from any palm I've planted! I see it is dark purple like the books say it should be for this species so I picked it.post-4111-0-19024800-1421791773_thumb.jp

One more photo as I will share this thread with Sherry so she can see if she thinks this I. D. is correct.post-4111-0-91755600-1421791847_thumb.jp

Oh, later I will post a photo of my small Iguanura wallichiana so at least the thread under this topic name will show one photo of this species!

Cindy the palm in your original photo is definitely an Asterogyne martiana.

On your other palm - from most of the photos it looks like the inflorescence is spicate (except for one close-up with the hand showing a black fruit where it looks like it may be branching behind the shot). If it is in fact spicate you palm is probably a simple-leaf form of Calyptrogyne ghiesbreghtiana, but definitely not an A. martiana.
