15 months later, these have grown, it's less easy to see the variegation on the leaves and to make a picture.

Very nice ones! Thanks for sharing

IMHO not every palm looks good being variegated. But these definitely do!

too bad that the crownshaft isn't variegated as well....

Philippe,

over here they are literally thrown after you at the nurseries, growing in the wild

like weeds...

010x.thumb.jpg.bfc3fe855fe37b954040d7933

..look at the bottom with all those young plants so close to the mother palm...

However, today I would never buy one of them because they are too common over here

but when I moved down to this place I got one (at that time knowing nothing about them)

and placed it at our entrance 4 years ago. It is now a beauty and I will a take picture of

it tomorrow - it is dark right now - but I have to confess that I have never checked it for

variegation. That`s for the moment -

best regards

Lars,

Lovely picture, has this palm been planted or is it a volunteer?

Which kind of vegetation is in the field behind ?

Philippe,

that one in the picture was probably set up with purpose and then left alone.

If there is a-new-open of something over here, that palm seems to be the first choice.

Mature palms (!) are set up within hours and doing mostly well but I doubt that there

is a real professional caretaking afterwards.

However, here is one from this morning...

You can see here the young seedlings at the bottom - our conditions are propbably close to be perfect

for this species - and here is the one at my home, 5 years old...

011x.thumb.jpg.c4e150d6b4a61d996d0425153

...getting a nice trunk and a healthy looking crown.

Unfortunately there is no variegation - I did not to hijack your thread, Philippe -

but from now on I will take a closer look to those sold in our nurseries, maybe I can

find one...

best regards

I forgot to answer your second question:

In the back you can see sugar cane, they are the main crop here, the greenhouses are for Mangos

which are a countrywide bestseller.
