I have this Arenga pinnata that has been in the same spot for about 7 or 8 years and it seems to be growing taller with each new leaf...about 9 or 10 feet (about 3 meters) to the tippost-2997-0-56099300-1426096804_thumb.jppost-2997-0-78164800-1426096831_thumb.jp. The problem is that the leaflets do not separate and I don't know what the deficiency is, water, fertilizer. It gets pretty much full sun all day until the late afternoon. Any suggestions?

Have any of the leaves ever opened correctly ? If so, might not be inherit and doses of palm fertiliser and lots of mulch with truckloads of watering might help.

Happy Gardening

Peter, why keep it ? I have a few good sized Pinnata but I'd remove it and start again, apart from the weird leaf behaviour the base looks "very thin" for such long leaves.. Peter, with your climate you could replace it with an Undulatifolia or Westerhoutii which have more presence than the old Pinnata, sorry if you dont like my "suggestion" :)

Thank you Aussie, Wal and Pete...it may need a spot with more water. This is a small but very dry area in the yard and we're right in the middle of our dry season.

Why keep it Pete? Because palms are hard to get here so if I have a problem I have to baby the palm with lots of TLC before I send it to palm heaven!
