I had Doyle come by the other day to put in a path on my new lot - one that hopefully will allow for trucks full of materials to drive into the back of the lot. This is looking from the street up the hill.

Nice Ohia area that I'm going to leave completely alone - the topography is treacherous in any event:

Top of the hill, looking towards the back of the lot. This is probably 15-20 feet higher than the street, but the incline is much more gradual than on the neighboring lot:

The back part of the path - at the back is a red blip that is a Croton I planted a few months back on the neighboring lot, along one of the paths on that lot. This is 400 feet back from the street.

This is taken from the same spot as the above picture, but turned 90 degrees to the right. This little side path connects back up to the neighboring lot right by the Dendrocalamus asper 'Hitam' that will eventually be huge. I put it at an intersection to garner maximum attention.

Justin,

That's really exciting! :) I saw the path that Doyle opened up when I passed by yesterday morning on my walk. And that's a beautiful ohi'a grove you have there. Let's hope the trees stay healthy! And if you're planning on having trucks drive in there you probably need a bit more prep work done would be my guess. I doubt that the large Bryson trucks would be able to negotiate it, no matter what, but Greg ("Greg's Rental") on Moku Street has a smaller dump truck. You may want to contact him and he can stop by and give you his opinion.

So much fun to begin a new section! Especially bringing in the big toys to play with! It will be fun watching these two acres develop over time, and it will be amazing to look back at these very early photos for comparison. Enjoy your time on the project.
